Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing
Fractional 1540
How does the Fractional laser treatment work?
The Fractional Laser delivers light in an array of narrow, focused“microbeams”, to create columns of coagulation (heat) within the skin. Thesedeep columns of coagulated tissue initiate a natural healing process thataccelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue to fill in the damagedtreatment areas. Coagulated collagen and cellular debris is expelled as skin isresurfaced thus resulting in fresher, more youthful skin tone and texture.
What areas can I have treated?
Fractional treatments can be applied to most areas of the body. The mostpopular Fractional treatment areas include the face, chest, arms, and hands.Fractional resurfacing is great for facial lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, surgical scars, acne scars, pigmentation disorders and sun damage.
What is the difference between ablative and non-ablative skinresurfacing?
Ablative skin resurfacing is performed with a CO2 or erbium laser, andcompletely removes and resurfaces the epidermis and portions of the dermis. Results of this procedure are noticeable, and ultimately positive. This is aninvasive procedure and the drawbacks to using the ablative skin resurfacingmethod include raw skin, and an increase in the risk of infection, and weeks ormonths of downtime.
Non-ablative
skin resurfacing is a non-invasive resurfacing procedurethat sends
light pulses into the dermis, while leaving the epidermis intact. The
recovery for this procedure is fast as a result of the light pulses
onlypenetrating partially into the dermis, resulting in a positive
change in skintone and texture without the long recovery period and
risk of infection. Mostpatients are back to work or their daily routine
within an hour of theirtreatment.
What makes AQS StarLux 1540 Fractional treatments different from other SkinResurfacing methods?
StarLux
Fractional Skin Resurfacing penetrates deep into the dermis toachieve
effective, long-term results. This non-ablative approach
stimulateshealing in the dermis, while leaving the epidermis in tact,
thus avoiding any lastingredness.
StarLux
Fractional Skin Resurfacing offers both superior results and
nodowntime. The Lux 1540 penetrates deeper into the dermis than
competing devicesfor effective, long-term results that stimulates quick
healing in the dermis.
StarLux
Fractional treatments alsodiffer from other technologies as they do not
involve a long prep and clean-uptime. Competing devices require that
dye be applied to your skin, which isdifficult to rinse off after
treatment. StarLux doesn’t require dye or prolongedappointments, thus
making our treatments quick and convenient to your schedule.
How does the laser work to resurface skin? Are these treatments safe?
The
Palomar Lux1540 Fractional™ Laser Handpiece delivers light in anarray
of high precision microbeams. These microbeams create narrow,
deepcolumns of tissue coagulation that penetrate well below the
epidermis and intothe dermis, while sparing the tissue surrounding the
columns from damage. Thecoagulated tissue within the columns initiates
a natural healing process thataccelerates the formation of new, healthy
tissue. Coagulated cellular debris isexpelled as the skin is
resurfaced.
By
delivering light as individual pulses of microbeams, the
Lux1540protects the skin from the overheating that can result from many
otherresurfacing treatments. In addition, the Lux1540 features built-in
cooling ofthe skin, so you feel only minor discomfort during treatment.
Throughout
the process, the integrity of the stratum corneum is maintained, which
protects the tissue from infection as it heals. The result: faster
dermalremodeling and skin resurfacing.
What should I expect after a treatment?
You
may experience redness, warmth, swelling, or tightness in the treated
area, which typically fades within a few hours of treatment. The skin
may often havea pinkish tone for 5-7 days. Generally, you can receive a
treatment and go backto work or to other activities without any
recovery time.
Because
the light pulses are confined to narrow columns in the skin, much ofthe
skin is left unaffected and there is a quick healing process. Most
peoplenotice positive changes in skin tone and texture within a few
days.
A series of 3 to 5 treatments at 4-6 week intervals may be required toachieve the desired results.
